Le Vieux Planty

Silver Medal - Médaille d'Argent - Concours International du Gamay

Silver Medal- Médaille d'Argent - Concours Général Agricole de Par

This is a delicious medium bodied and FRUITY Gamay thanks to the decision to do a carbonic maceration* (see below)  Candied nose with a touch of Cherry ( & little liquorice spice). Silky and delicate at just 12.5% Alc.

Personal comment this is a "quaffer" if a red can be described as that?: Really lovely fruit hit and almost a little sweet tasting (with 1% residual Sugar) Dare I say it, on a hot day I might quaff this a little chilled!!

ABV 12.5%

Hand harvested from 3ha of 25-year-old vines

9 Months in Barrel

Cellaring Potential? - D des G say up to 5 years - Why bother? Drink it this year!!!

*For this vintage, D des G decided to do a carbonic maceration: This involves manually harvesting the grapes whole bunches and then putting them intact in a vat for 10-15 days. The maceration takes place inside each berry  (effectively the grapes start fermenting on their own without breaking the skins). This allows to develop richer aromas, fruitiness more roundness and richness."

Tasting Notes
Description Bright redcurrant, dark cherry and wildflower aromatics, followed by a lush rich palate showing density texture and persistence.
